Trip to Trieste In May the Club took a two day trip to Trieste. Trieste is the largest seaport on the Adriatic sea and is located in the North-East of Italy, near the border of Slovenia. With its historic buildings and coffee houses, it is a city of multicultural and multiethnic atmosphere and we had a wonderful time visiting it!
Cooking lessons On Friday, February 24 the Benvenuto Club enjoyed a pasta cooking lesson at La Nostra Cucina cooking school. After learning to make various pasta dishes that can be prepared ahead of time and then heated in the oven, we preceded to devour our works of art! See below the divine dishes prepared (and eaten) by the lucky ladies who attended this lesson! The Benvenuto Club has been enjoying the very informative lessons at Nostra Cucina cooking school for a few years and we will be continuing next year too!
Tour of Villa Belgiojoso A great tour of Villa Belgiojoso was had this Spring, admiring both the museum and gardens of the beautiful restored villa, previously known as Villa Reale, the finest Neoclassical villa in Milan.
Annual Dinner Dance We had a fabulous Dinner-Dance at the Hotel Principe di Savoia!
Barbara Cocchini, the year's president, remarked: "The dinner dance at the Principe Savoia was magnificent, the food was superb, the people beautiful, the orchestra excellent, everyone seemed to be having a ball dancing, and a great thank you is due to Irene Gambino who organized it all and to Kandis Davis whose fundraising enabled us, in addition to other activities, to subsidize the cost of the tickets. I wish you all could have all been there. Many people suggested we repeat the same next year".
Trip to Villa Balbianello on Lake Como
Commissioned during in the late 18th century, Villa del Balbianello stands on the tip of a wooded headland, which juts out from the western shore of Lake Como into the waters just opposite the impressive skyline of the northernmost reaches of Lombardy. Not only does the villa stand in an extremely picturesque spot, but contributes to characterise even more this stretch of land which has always been a check-point for navigators and one of the favourite subjects of the painters and engravers depicting the lake. |
